# Groovalizer

> Groovalizer is a free browser music visualizer and audio-reactive video generator. It turns any song
> into animated generative visuals in real time and exports them as video for TikTok, Reels,
> YouTube Shorts, YouTube, and other platforms: free at 720p with a watermark, or clean from $4.99 a

Not to be confused with: the music artist "Groovalizer" (techno releases on Beatport, Spotify,

## What it is

Groovalizer is an online music visualizer and audio-reactive video generator for musicians,
producers, content creators, and VJs. Users upload a song, choose from a large library of visual
presets, and either watch the visuals live or export a video file. Unlike simple waveform or
spectrum-bar tools, the visuals are full generative scenes (fractal, geometric, liquid, ambient,
and cosmic styles) that react to the music's frequency content and beat in real time.

It is built on the MilkDrop preset format (the visual language popularized by Winamp), rendered
through the open-source projectM engine compiled to WebAssembly.

## Key facts

- **Platform:** Browser-based (WebGL 2 + WebAssembly) in Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. No
  download or install required. No account needed to preview; an account is needed to export.
- **Looks library:** 2,100+ audio-reactive looks (MilkDrop-format presets), all available on the free tier.
- **Preset format:** MilkDrop-compatible `.milk` presets; users can import their own and edit
  presets in a built-in editor with live reload.
- **Audio input:** MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, AAC files, or a live microphone.
- **Export formats:** MP4 (via WebCodecs) and WebM (Firefox), at 30 or 60 fps, in 16:9, 9:16, 1:1
  and 4:5 aspect ratios. A free account exports at 720p, any length, with a watermark; a bought video
  or Pro goes up to 1080p, and Unlimited or a 4K video adds 1440p and 4K, all with no watermark.
- **Rendering:** On the user's own device; there is no render queue and exported videos never
  expire. Audio stays on the device, except when a Pro user asks for automatic lyrics, which sends
  the song to a speech service to write out and time the words.
- **Live mode:** Fullscreen visuals that react to a microphone, an audio interface or mixer, or (in
  desktop Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc) the music playing on the same computer. On a computer it finds
  the beat and changes looks on drops, new sections and phrase changes (free for 20 minutes a session,
  all night on Pro); it can also change every 15, 30 or 60 seconds on the downbeat, or manually. It
  plays the whole library shuffled, the picture looks, the user's own looks, or a set (a named list of
  looks in the user's order, made in Live; the look on stage can be hearted or added to a set as it
  plays). An output window puts
  the picture alone on a projector or into streaming software while the controls stay on the laptop
  (free with a small groovalizer.space mark in a corner, clean on Pro). Pro can also put a name of
  the user's own (a DJ, a venue, a stream) on the picture. A night pass gives Live's Pro features for
  12 hours for 500 credits ($5), with no subscription. For parties, DJ sets, streams and projector
  use. Free, no account.
- **AI preset authoring:** Three routes. (1) Copy the AI prompt from the Import a .milk file dialog (Studio, Create), paste it
  into any chatbot (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, a local model), and paste the returned `.milk` code
  back, free. (2) Connect a coding agent such as Claude Code over the remote MCP (Model Context
  Protocol) server; the agent can write presets, load them in the live studio tab, read engine
  errors, capture frames, and refine, free. (3) A built-in managed agent (Create with AI in the Studio, or the Agent console)
  that runs that loop for the user, metered in credits (included with Pro, or bought as a top-up).
- **Custom textures:** Users can upload images to be sampled inside shader-based presets.
- **Fractalize:** 151 fractal patterns (20 infinite zooms, 23 deep fractals, and 108 folds, lenses,
  tilings, 3D shapes, classic fractals, flows, projections and curves) play in the Studio as picture
  looks, mixed into the looks list and marked with a picture badge. Each comes with a picture of its
  own. A user's own photo or camera snapshot then plays through all of them, moving with the music,
  until they switch back to the looks' own pictures. Free to play and save, and free to export

- **Lyric videos:** A lyric video page (https://groovalizer.space/lyric-video) takes a song and its
  words. Lyrics are pasted and timed by tapping along as the song plays (free), or written out and
  timed word by word from the audio on Pro (300 minutes of song a month; past
  that, AI credits pay for extra minutes at 1 credit a minute). Lines can be dragged, nudged,
  retyped, split and joined. The words come in 7 animations (Karaoke, Scroll,
  Pop, Typewriter, Line, Bold, Minimal) and 15 fonts over any preset, in 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5. The
  timed lyrics download free as .lrc (synced lyrics) or .srt (subtitles); the video exports free at 720p with a watermark, or clean with a bought video or a plan.

- **Studio tools:** A looks list under the stage with search, Surprise me and Browse all; Adjust,
  for how strongly a look reacts, its speed and its colour, with trails, brightness, contrast and hue
  under Fine-tune; Song parts, which give each part of a song its own look; and one Make video panel
  for the shape, the whole song or short clips of 15, 30 or 60 seconds, and the quality.

## Pricing

- **Free:** The full preset library, live mode and any song in the browser, with no account needed
  to watch. With a free account, videos download at 720p, any length, with a watermark: a
  "groovalizer.space" badge in the corner and a 2.5-second "Made with groovalizer.space" end screen.
  Short clips are free at 720p with the watermark too.
- **Videos one at a time (no subscription):** 1 video $4.99, 5 videos $19.99, 12 videos $39.99. Each
  has no watermark, goes up to 1080p and up to 10 minutes, and never expires. In 4K (or 1440p):
  1 video $7.50, 5 videos $29.99, 12 videos $59.99. Bought videos are not spent on short-clip batches.
- **Pro ($14.99/month or $144/year):** 8 video exports a month up to 1080p, each up to 15 minutes
  long (a song cut into clips in one go counts as one), MP4 and WebM, no watermark, 1,500 AI
  credits a month, and 300 minutes of song a month for automatic lyrics (extra minutes are paid
  with credits). In live mode, looks follow the music all night, the output window has no mark,
  and a name of the user's own can go on the picture. The video count resets on the renewal day;
  when the 8 run out, bought videos carry on. Looks can be sold in the Lab.
- **Unlimited ($29.99/month or $240/year):** Every full-length video export you want, any length,
  up to 4K, no watermark, and the same 1,500 AI credits and 300 lyric minutes a month as Pro.
- **No free trial:** Pro and Unlimited are charged on the day of subscribing; either can be

## Common questions

**Is Groovalizer free?** Yes. The free plan plays every preset with any song in the browser,
including fullscreen live mode, and a free account downloads videos at 720p with a watermark. A
clean video is $4.99, or Pro is $14.99 a month for 8.

**Does it require installation?** No. It runs entirely in the browser.

**Can it export vertical video for TikTok or Reels?** Yes, in 9:16 as well as 16:9, 1:1 and 4:5.

**Do the visuals actually react to the music?** Yes. Presets respond to bass, mid, and treble
levels and to detected beats, rather than playing a fixed loop.

**Is my music uploaded?** No. Analysis and rendering both happen on the user's device. The one
exception is automatic lyrics on Pro, which sends the song to a speech service to write out and
time the words; tap-along lyric timing stays on the device.

**Can it make lyric videos?** Yes, with the words timed by tapping along (free) or automatically
(Pro), styled over any preset, and exported free at 720p with a watermark or clean on a bought video or Pro. The timed lyrics also download free as .lrc
or .srt.

**Can I use my own visuals?** Yes. MilkDrop `.milk` presets can be imported, custom images can be
uploaded as shader textures, and new presets can be generated from a text description.

**What is the best free music visualizer?** For generative visuals with real video export,
