What Videobolt does well

Videobolt is a template library with a renderer attached. Its pricing page counts 21,100+ templates across logo reveals, intros, stream overlays, lyric videos and music visualizers, and its music visualizer page says 1,200+ of them are built for songs. You pick a template, upload a track, set colours, logo and text, and Videobolt’s servers render the result. Its pricing page says you can close the browser while that happens.

The templates are polished motion graphics, and the plans add a stock library of photos, video and sounds, brand kits, and an extension for After Effects and Premiere Pro. If your channel needs a consistent branded look across many uploads, that is a strong kit.

A template versus a preset engine

A Videobolt template is a designed animation. Its music visualizer page says the engine reads the audio’s frequencies and lets you choose whether bass, mids or highs move the animation, so the spectrum and the logo pulse with the track inside a layout someone composed in advance.

Groovalizer runs projectM, the open-source successor to Winamp’s MilkDrop, compiled to WebAssembly. Each of its 2,100+ presets is a scene written as equations: feedback fractals, liquid geometry, folding symmetry, star fields. Bass, mids and treble go into those equations every frame, so the music changes the shape of the picture itself.

Neither one suits every song. They make different videos.

Trying before you pay

Videobolt’s free plan lets you preview any template. Its help center says a music visualizer preview covers 15 seconds of the song, chosen with a slider, at up to 540p, and that free users can download those previews with a small watermark.

Groovalizer’s free plan plays every preset through the whole song in the browser, with no account needed to start, and lets you change every setting as it plays. Sign in free and it downloads the whole song as a 720p video with a small watermark. A clean video is $4.99, or Pro at $14.99 a month or $144 a year.

Cloud rendering or your own machine

Videobolt uploads your track and renders on its servers, so a slow laptop does not slow the render and you can walk away from the browser. That is a real advantage for hour-long DJ sets.

Groovalizer renders in the browser with WebCodecs, on your own computer. The render takes as long as your hardware takes, and the tab has to stay open in front until the file is written. In return there is no render queue, and the finished file lands straight on your computer.

Who should pick which

Stay with Videobolt if you want a branded template with your logo and cover art, need stock footage and lyric templates in the same subscription, render long sets on a slow machine, or want to finish a video in After Effects.

Pick Groovalizer if you want visuals that come from the music itself. It also suits you if you’d like to hear and watch the whole song free before paying, give each part of the song its own look, or run the same presets live on a projector at a show.

Pro is $24.99 a month yearly or $34.99 monthly, for up to 4K at 60 fps and up to 1 hour. Business is $39.99 yearly or $59.99 monthly, up to 2 hours, with a resale license.

Does Videobolt put a watermark on free videos?

Yes. Its help center says free users can download low resolution previews with a small watermark, and that a subscription exports without one. A music visualizer preview covers any 15 seconds of the song and tops out at 540p.

What does Groovalizer let you do for free?

Play any song through all 2,100+ presets, full length, in the browser, and change every setting while it plays. Live mode for a projector or a stream is free too. Sign in free and the whole song downloads as a 720p video with a small watermark. A clean video is $4.99 on its own, or Pro at $14.99 a month or $144 a year makes 8 a month.

Where does each one render the video?

Videobolt renders on its own servers, so you can close the browser while a video finishes. Groovalizer renders in your browser on your own computer, so render time depends on your hardware and the tab has to stay open in front until the file is done.

Which one should I pick for a YouTube music visualizer?

Pick Videobolt for a logo, cover art and spectrum built from a polished template, with stock footage and brand kits at hand. Pick Groovalizer for generative scenes where the music bends the geometry, a free 720p video of the whole song before you pay, and the same visuals live on a projector.
